Akua Villas Mentawai is a small jungle-front surf hideaway on North Sipora, set above the treeline with bungalows that look out to reef and forest. You are parked in front of Scarecrows, a powerful, consistent left, with more world-class options a few minutes by boat and Katiet further south if you feel like a mission.

Stays are private and flexible. Each bungalow has its own boat and crew, so families or small groups set their own session times and chase the right wind and tide without waiting on a big program. The crew can line up lessons, barrel coaching, and photo packages if you want to sharpen skills and take home clips.

The bungalows are built for comfort in nature. Two elevated 100 m² villas sit about seven metres up in the canopy, with king or single bed setups for up to four guests, air-conditioning and fans, hot-water showers, double-vanity bathrooms, Wi-Fi, mini-bar and coffee maker, indoor dining space, surfboard racks and wide terraces. A third beachfront villa adds a private kitchen and living area for longer stays.

Days revolve around water time. Count nine plus quality breaks within minutes, from playful walls to serious barrels, then reset with three daily meals that blend Indonesian favourites with a Brazilian twist. Between surfs there is snorkelling, fishing, SUP and canoeing, short hikes, a yoga and wellness space, and even wildlife watching from your balcony with endemic Mentawai monkeys in the trees.

Getting there is straightforward. Fly into Padang, then either take the Mentawai Fast Ferry to Tuapejat on Monday, Wednesday or Sunday, or book the short Monday or Friday flight to Sipora. The Akua team meets you at the harbour or airstrip and completes the last hop to the villas.

Booking Policy

• 50% deposit to secure booking, 50% balance payment 60 days before arrival.

Cancellation Policy

• Cancellation within 60 days of check-in we will refund 50% of the amount paid, cancellations with less than 60 days of check-in the guest will be entitled to reschedule dates subject to availability.
